I love the colors displayed here – the yellow, blue and green will definitely grab the attention of browsers at the bookstore. And those colors tend to give off a sense of calm and serenity; a nice ironic touch of what is to come – as this is, after all, a novel of the French Revolution. I believe the book begins right before the Revolution actually takes place, so this is sort of like a vision of “the calm before the storm”.
I think they chose a great model for the cover; she’s pretty, but not supermodel-like, so as to be unbelievable for the character. And the dress fits the time period and the model perfectly, which is more than many historical fiction authors can say for their models! (Hey, working in fashion for all those years means that I cringe at the sight of ill-fitted dresses.) Plus, ya just gotta love that hair
